About Us
Insight Ecology is an independent consultancy providing a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to ecological advice and implementation to planners, developers, multi-disciplinary consultancies and contractors.
We specialise in projects involving the conversion or demolition of buildings and modification of natural habitats for infrastructure, with licences to disturb, capture, radio-tag and ring bats. We maintain a strong network of regional associates to support our projects, each engaged for their expertise on a particular species or habitat, and commitment to our company values.
Director James Goldsmith BSc(Hons) has 10-years experience as a Field Ecologist, working within planning and development contexts, and academia, on issues related to human-wildlife conflict resolution.

We understand that ensuring compliance with environmental legislation can be daunting. This is why we pride ourselves on providing a bespoke service, guiding you through the process to ensure the work you commission meets the expectations of your clients and the Local Planning Authority.
Our services include, but are not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAR), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRA), bat surveys, great crested newt surveys, climbing inspections, advanced bat surveys (inc. trapping and radio-tracking), bat mitigation licences, ecological watching briefs, badger surveys, reptile surveys & Ecological Clarke of Works (ECoW) support.
Our services and reports comply with BS42020:2013. We operate across England, managing and quality assuring our projects from our Norwich, Norfolk office.

How We Work
Get a quote. Provide us with your contact details and tell us about your project. We'll send you a quote via email as soon as we can, usually within 48-hours.

Get your report. Once your surveys are complete, we'll write your report. After payment has been made, we'll send your watermark-free report to you by email.
